The focus of the project was for students to explore the many aspects of performing with a puppet of their creation while engaging with local Indigenous stories. Students heard the Sinixt stories told by Marilyn James and Taress Alexis at the Sinixt Heritage Site. Using their story and characters for inspiration, students were guided through a puppet theatre creation process by artists Nicole Weimer and Marya Folinsbee.
This project was supported by an Artist in the Classroom grant disbursed by Artstarts in Schools and funded by the Province of B.C. and the B.C. Arts Council. And Winlaw PAC, thank you!
