January Events

January was filled with fun and it was great to see the students get back into their routines after the winter break. We wasted no time and got our winter activities program started the second day back after the winter break. Students from grades 2-6 got the opportunity to go to Whitewater for four Tuesdays in January. While students in K-1 had the opportunity to do some cross country skiing and walking on the Rail Trail. Fun was had by everyone and I got to see first hand how important the winter activities program is to Winlaw.
Winlaw Elementary was also joined by storyteller Mike Funergy. Mike Funergy brought his amazing personality and his enthusiasm for literacy to all classes. Thank you to Mike for providing this opportunity and we look forward to having you back in the future.
The grade 5-6 students travelled to Hume Elementary to take part in the district volleyball tournament. The students had been working hard to prepare and were able to demonstrate the skills they practiced, show teamwork and step out of their comfort zones. Go Winlaw!
Ms. Out's Grade 2-3 took full advantage of the cold weather we have been receiving and made some ice art to decorate a tree outside of the school.
