Hello Winlaw Families,

It was a busy but exciting first week of school. It was great to meet and interact with the students as well as meet and have conversations with parents and guardians.

Teachers and students have already got right into classroom routines and learning. This was evident in my daily walk arounds to each classroom. Many classrooms have been using the outdoor spaces to enhance their learning and it has been fascinating to see how teachers have used nature to engage their students. Mrs. Out’s Grade 2/3 class completed a fun outdoor scavenger hunt. While Mr. Ellis’ class made art pieces out of things they found outdoors.

On Friday afternoon we had trivia with questions about me (Mr.McDowell). This allowed the students to get to know a little bit more about me, do a whole school activity, as well as build their teamwork and communication with their classmates. 

I look forward to having a great year and building positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community.
