Hello Winlaw School Parents and Caregivers!
Our Winter Activities program will be taking place on Tuesday, January 7, 14, 21 and 28th 2025 at either Whitewater Ski Hill (for skiing and snowboarding) or at the school.
Kindergarten and Grade one students will stay at the school for regular school hours for snow/ winter activities and a cross-country skiing program. The at-school program is also open to any students who won’t be attending the Whitewater Program. Parents are encouraged to come and help with their K/1 child during cross-country skiing.
The Whitewater Ski and Snowboard program is open to students in grades 2-6.
All paperwork for Whitewater regarding students and adults needs to be handed in with full payment for the 4-day program by Dec. 13. Please contact Mr. McDowell regarding financial assistance.
Students need to arrive at school on the Winter Activity Days by the 8 am start to drop off equipment going to the Ski Hill. Student downhill ski and snowboard equipment cannot go on the bus, so parents need to drop it off at the school before 8:00am and parents need to pick up the equipment when students return from Whitewater at the end of the day, scheduled for 3:30 pm. The equipment is taken to the ski hill by a parent volunteer driver. The bus for the ski hill leaves at 8:45 and returns to the school by 3:30 pm. Students in the in-school program can take their regular bus home at 2pm.
Parents are invited to attend the ski days, driving in their own vehicles. Parents are not on the bus. Adult lift tickets and rental equipment are available through the school office, paid for in advance of ski days and paid in full. Rates for parents are $70/ full mountain pass and $42/ Silver King day pass. Adult equipment rentals are $46.00. Parents pick up passes from the designated teacher at the ski hill lodge.
All students are required to bring ski goggles and must have a helmet or rent a helmet as well as have an appropriate jacket, mitts, tuque, snow pants, socks.
It is mandatory that sign up be completed by all students, parents, chaperones, and teachers coming to Whitewater with the school by the deadline of Friday Dec. 13th. See attached forms.
